Makeup by One Direction | First Impressions & Swatches

Hey everyone so today I have a fun post for your all. I was pretty excited about this, due to the fact I have never been able to try a products and give my opinion before it hits stores.  Also will be having a giveaway so stay tuned.

Yes, yes I had the same reaction as you. One Direction is coming out with a makeup line?! If your a directioner I am sure you were excited, while the rest of us scratched our heads. So without further ado lets get to the makeup. Also I made a video on my YT I will post the link at the end.

this is going to be a long post...

 One direction makeup collection

So silly me I forgot to take a photo of the case itself. However it is pretty simple. The picture of the boys is a plastic sleeve that you pull off and you are left with a tin box that has a greyed out wall picture. Nothing exciting or to write home to. Oh and before I get ahead of myself there are two other collections you can choose from, "Midnight Memories"  and "Take me Home". They each have their own little color scheme which I thought was fun.

Here is how it looks when you open it up. It reminded me of any other makeup kit, with the eye diagram on the side. **Something Neat: They put a makeup look for different colored eyes. The layout of the makeup is pretty self explanatory. (eye/body crayon, eyeshadow pallet, lipstick, lipgloss, mascara, stencils and nail polish).

NAIL POLISH: NA NA NA

The nail polish NA NA NA has an iridescent look to it. It looks blue at times and then green deepening on how the light hits it, i noticed small hints of purple and gold in it.  The first coat was extremely sheer as you will see below. The second coat was more opaque and you got the feel of the color. I did a third coat but did not see any noticeable differences so two coats are enough. I do like the sheerness in if you apply a white coat of nail polish first and than the NA NA NA it would look really neat.

The size is smaller than a Butter London bottle of polish, but it is shaped similar.

Lipstick: "I should have kissed you"

One, I was a bit eh on this color. The packing was simple and to the point. It's one of the larger lipsticks I own packaging wise. Nothing too special about it, but once I swatched it the color grew on me. It is described as a bubblegum pink creme lipstick. It looks a lot brighter in the tub, but comes off more cool on your skin.  The texture of it was not the greatest was not really smooth when applying, but it was something I could get over. Although I noticed it was also a bit hard to blend together with my lipliner and such. No smell detected.

Mascara: "Little Black Dress"

The mascara was pretty simple. I did like the brush. I noticed not a lot of product was on it so I wasn't sure how this would preform. It does not claim to do anything, I noticed my lashes looked longer but they were not thicker. I also noticed no clumping although it seemed they looked thinner...is that possible? I am not much of a mascara wearer, however when I do my second post on this I'll show you what I am talking about. Nothing exciting really.

Eye/body Crayon: "Stand up"

This eye crayon reminded me of NYX Jumbo pencils, so I was excited to try this out. I have yet to wear it, but it was incredibly smooth going on (also should note it was super hot that day). I can see this being used as eyeliner and eyeshadow as it did blend well and easily. Not sure why you would use it for your body unless you are like a body painter. Pretty decent.

4+1 Eyeshadow Palette: "More than this"

So here is the lovely eyeshadow palette. The plus one in the middle is actually an eyeliner. At least that is what I am telling myself and makes the most sense. I was confused about what it was for at least a good 5 minutes.  The colors are wearable, you can mix them into your everyday routine. All seem to have a frost like finish to them except the neutrals. Pigmentation was really nice and they did not seem chalky. I do like the colors I don't have many blues in my collection so I will have fun with making a look out of these. Each collection will have its own set color scheme.

UV Lipgloss: "Taken"

This was the most interesting product out of all of them. It is a UV light lipgloss! Unfortunately I don't have a backlight to test it, but I am sure it looks pretty cool. Not too sure as to why they made it a UV light lipgloss, but whatever floats your boat. The color itself is build able. It comes off more natural than it looks in the tube. It also has small specks of glitter in it, however you can't feel them at all. The packaging reminded me of the lip glosses I would buy when I was younger. It's not really moisturizing, at least it was not to me. More for looks really. The applicator I really liked as well, flat on both sides and flexible. Smells like glitter glue.

Last but not least the one thing I was least impressed by and don't understand their purpose are the stencils..

Umm...yeah not to sure what to use them for. As you can see I attempted to use the body crayon on it and it just messed up the tip,the little details are not big enough for the crayon to cover. It was just messy. I figured maybe you can use these to decorate your books and such...but it does not belong in a makeup kit. I would have preferred a little blush duo or something.

All in all I really am impressed with the collection. I was not really expecting much, but it is comparable to drugstore makeup which is good. High five one direction I applaud you on this.

What are your thoughts on it? Do you plan on buying it?

Stay tuned for more post on this and the giveaway!!

xoxo
